The Western Bulldogs have taken a significant step towards securing a spot in the finals with a convincing 41-point victory over Essendon at Docklands in round 19 of the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.
The match, which was broadcast live on YouTube, saw the Bulldogs snap their two-game losing streak and move into eighth place on the ladder with a 10-8 record.
Essendon, on the other hand, remains in 15th place with a 6-12 record. The Bombers have now lost four of their last five games and face an uphill battle to make the finals.
The Bulldogs were led by a dominant performance from Aaron Naughton, who kicked four goals and took nine marks. Marcus Bontempelli also had a strong game, collecting 30 disposals and kicking two goals.
For Essendon, Jake Stringer was the standout performer, kicking three goals. However, it was not enough to prevent the Bombers from suffering their fourth loss of the season.
