Jerry West, the NBA legend who played for the Los Angeles Lakers and was the general manager for the team, passed away on June 12, 2024, at the age of 86.

Born on May 28, 1938, West stood 6'3" (190 cm) tall and weighed 190 pounds during his playing days. He was a tenacious defender and an unstoppable shooter, earning him the nickname "Mr. Clutch." West led the Lakers to nine NBA Finals appearances, winning one championship in 1972.

After retiring as a player, West became the Lakers' general manager and later the team's president. He was known for his astute trades and acquisitions, including the signings of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson, which helped the Lakers to eight more championships.

West's contributions to basketball were immense, both on and off the court. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame three times, as a player, coach, and executive. His silhouette is the iconic logo for the NBA.
