US President says phase three of Israeli plan would also include a return of remains of hostages taken from Israel

WASHINGTON -- President Joe Biden announced Friday that Israel has proposed a fresh Gaza ceasefire in exchange for the return of remains of hostages taken from Israel.

Biden's remarks came as the Israeli military confirmed that its forces are now operating in central Gaza.

The leaders of the United States and Israel, President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, spoke by phone Friday about the ongoing violence in Gaza.

US President Joe Biden acknowledged the gut-wrenching conflict in Gaza in his State of the Union address Tuesday night.
